The first SAMA Competition welcomed contestants from 15 countries, including China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Russia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, India, Vietnam, Armenia, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Egypt and Taiwan.
Other than the main competition, contestants participated in various other fun cultural activities.
SAMA's annual competition will return next year in Hong Kong. We look forward to seeing even more students next year!

Another Major Achievement of “Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Without Border”
I was very honored to be invited by Mr. Rustam Bagautdinov, Chairman of PAMA Russia, to co-host the three-day teacher’s training session in Moscow from May 3rd to 5th . The event saw more than 30 teachers taking part. They are abacus & mental arithmetic enthusiasts from Moscow and its nearby cities, or devotees coming all the way from Siberia, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. Originally a traditional feat used by the Chinese communities, abacus and mental arithmetic has also been promoted by many people in Western countries in recent years. Witnessing the remarkable growth has given me plenty of inspirations and the realization Chinese should cherish their traditions more.

PAMA Instructor Certification Program and Terms
PAMA Instructor Certification Program aims to promote professional abacus and mental arithmetic knowledge, enhance instructor skills for higher quality education and ultimately elevate the social status and professional image of abacus and mental arithmetic instructors. PAMA implores all members to take a serious approach in regards to the program. Not only will it strengthen the competitiveness and professional image of your companies, it will also elevates the educational mission of abacus and mental arithmetic around the world.
1. Instructor Certification Levels
(1) Elementary Instructor (One-star Instructor)
Instructors must successfully pass all subjects (addition and subtraction, multiplication, division) in Level 7 Abacus and Level 8 Mental Arithmetic, and complete a on-site demonstration of classroom instruct...
PAMA will introduce its Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Instructor Certification Program later this year. This new program will offer standardized training and associated certification.
The goals of this new initiative are to
(1) establish standard of abacus and mental arithmetic education
(2) enhance the social image of the teachers
(3) offer opportunity to for young talents and attract new generations to join this discipline
Even if your company has been running abacus and mental arithmetic program for some time, the PAMA Instructor Certification still offers values. The Program will make it easier to for management to assign classes based on credentials and ultimately improve the learning results of students. This is a great way to boost the image of your school.

The dates for the next PAMA Training Session for Teachers will be December 13 to 15 in Taipei, Taiwan. PAMA Training Session for Teachers have benefited many teachers from more than 15 countries and continue to bring the best professional abacus and mental arithmetic training to more prospective teachers around the world.
The training fee is $1000 US per person. Meals and accommodation can be added for $650 US per person (5 days, 4 nights). Trainees will arrive on December 12, attend the training from December 13 to 15 and depart on December 16. Find out more about PAMA's training program here.
